another test?!

October 23, 2008

Ugh:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/education/23sat.html
"She said she thought the new test could inform parents and teachers about whether “kids are on track with the particular skills they would need as they go forward into taking the PSAT and SAT and being ready for college.”"
Isn’t that the point of grades?

    Grades aren’t nationally standardized, though.
A 3.8 from Stuyvesant and a 3.8 from Podunk High School most likely mean very different things.
P.S. – Snap.com apparently thinks you work in Tennessee.

But we already have the SAT, ACT, and whatever test it is for NCLB for national averaging. And this test is for middle school kids, if I remember the article right, not h.s.. At that level, just stick with the district’s grades.
