1. Inventing a Memory, 2. Liberal Bias

October 3, 2008

“I still remember how we drove all night
Just to see the mountains in the morning light.
You took my hand as we crossed the state line.
That’s when I knew
I’d be carrying you.”

I’m inventing a memory about this song. It’s such a beautiful song, and it’ll be stuck in my head for hours. That sounds like something Erik and I would do, though we have no plans for it, but whenever those lines play I see that happening. I almost believe, now, that we’ve done this. I can see the light glancing off the pine trees. We’re somewhere further north apparently, but considering that Erik’s involved this doesn’t surprise me.
What’s weird is that this is actually a song about a breakup. I just ignore the rest of it, and play those lines over and over again in my head.

We all know about that evil liberal bias to most of the news. I’ve been told by so many people that I can’t trust them. Today, I followed a link from Language Log to Daily Kos, and almost stopped myself, thinking “but they’re crazy liberal; I can’t go there.”
Wait a minute.
I’m crazy liberal.
Where should I be getting my news from. Would all these conservatives (Dad) really like me to watch Fox News instead? They’re obviously less biased in their reporting…yeah. What’s so wrong with reading NYTimes, a *gasp* liberal paper? I don’t get it. I read the headlines, which are based on facts and reported pretty much the same everywhere, and the science section which I will not be trusting to Fox. I also read the editorials and opinions, but I already agree with these people. FYI world, I’m a bleeding heart socialist. They’re not going to convince me of anything new. Maybe the conservatives in my life don’t like that by reading these editorials because I gain precision and facts to go with the opinions I already have. Either way, I am tired of hearing about how I shouldn’t read liberal news. Firstly guys, I AM liberal, and secondly, half y’all watch Fox News, so you’ve got no right to tell me about my media bias.
Ironically, most of the people this section is directed at don’t read my lj.

I think they are all biased but if you watch/read them all then at least you get both sides of the story. I think you should read fox news just like I read all the rest of them (for the people who don’t know me I qualify as the heartless conservative). I can however tell you they all suck equally well at reporting military issues. So hopefully they are better at everything else that I don’t have personal experience with or I think none of us should be reading any of it lol.
