Absentee voting

October 15, 2006

Here’s my plug for absentee voting. It’s not hard and it’s your responsibility to do it. Here’s how to get your ballot:
Instructions are on this page:
http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-1633_8716-21037–,00.html
You fill out this pdf:
http://www.michigan.gov/documents/AbsentVoterBallot_105377_7.pdf
And mail it to your county clerk. That address can be found using this webpage:
https://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/mivote/voterSearch.aspx
The form takes all of about two minutes, unless you’re obsessive like I am and spend twenty minutes rechecking it. Your application has to be in to the clerk’s office by two pm on November 4th.
Of course, if you’re not a Michigander, none of this applies, and you’ll have to check out regulations in your own state.
Why should you vote? We’re electing a new governor, the MCRI is up for a vote, and since you’re all good young liberals you can help make Congress return to the light side as there’s a strong push to get a democratic majority there again. Also, vote because it’s your responsibility as a citizen, and I won’t let you argue politics or basically have many opinions at all if you can’t be bothered to voice your opinions on election day. Btw, feel free to give me opinions as to the governor’s race and the MCRI, ’cause I’m still lost on both. I’d like to hear why I should vote one way or another.
